Tell Us What You Think!

02 Apr 2012 11:03 PM | Marie Littlejohn-Dunn (Administrator)
The board would like to hear your feedback on the directory CDs published last term.  This is the first time we have published and distributed the directory in PDF format which is significantly less expensive than a paper copy.  At the same time, we have also gone to an online directory which is as up-to-date as each individual brat keeps it and is available 24/7.  To put it another way, as soon as we dump the database and burn to CD, it's out of date!

You can guess how we feel about the directory CDs, but we'd like to here from you guys!  Tell us what you think by voting in the poll or leaving your thoughts in the feedback forum.

A CD? Really? Somehow I didn't get the memo. Or did but forgot to read it ("senior moments," you know.) I use the online database lookup frequently and don't see any need, from my standpoint, to keep a CD on hand, with the obvious problem of content senescence.

I would prefer a floppy disk! Actually I did not even know we had an online directory :-)

SInce I was a teacher/librarian I don't think I ever received the CD. WHere is the online directory - maybe I'm missing it? Is it on the Brats website? Anyway if the CD is out of date as soon as it is published what good is it? Just go with the online directory

Yes, how DO we get to the "online" directory.

I use it occasionally & do not think this info. should be on-line. (not an option in your list above)

I've never used the online database but would use it if I had an internet connection when I wasn't able to contact someone because of out-of-date info in the PDF. I keep the PDF on my netbook so it is with me whenever I travel and is available regardless of whether I'm connected to the internet or not. (I don't have a smartphone so unless I am at home or at work, no internet!)

This is the first I've heard of a directory available to members, other than asking for information from someone who answers the phone. I'll be real happy to just look up this information on-line, but maybe you could burn a current CD upon request for those members who would prefer a CD. Hopefully, you could burn a CD from the current on-line database. Keep everybody happy! Now I'll go see if I can find the on-line directory. Thanks.

I don't think I ever received a CD, but perhaps I didn't pay my AdBak. I like the convenience of an online database, but there's still something nice about having a print directory, too. I'll turn to mine when I'm searching for a name but don't have searchable information. (Where you a vague notion of someone's name, but can't remember exactly what it was.)

I understand that this is more expensive, but I would prefer a paper directory. In the past, I have come across people I have forgotten about while looking for someone else in the directory.

I never received a CD. I like the online database, but still think the CD would b nice to have.

The online directory is more easily accessable. To use the CD, I'd have to go get it. Plus, as your email mentioned, online is more up to date.
