Hello all,

I am currently studying nursing, got 2 years left to go then hopefully will be doing some time in Africa and/or disaster nursing - life permitting. My sister Sara has just moved near me having just stopped travelling the world since the age of 15. My little sis Gemma is getting on great also!
It would be great if anyone wants to get in contact. I am desparatly trying to save for flights and hotel to Vegas for Mazin and Ramzis wedding. Hope to see some old faces! xxx

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and wish everyone a safe and happy New Year! My sister Brianna and her husband are expecting twins in the spring. I have my 2 (son is 4 and daughter is 1). Things are going well for me. I am in school and working full time so I stay pretty busy, but if you remember me and would like to say hello I would love to hear from you. Take care!

HI GUYS!!! On Christmas eve, my brother called me over to the computer to show me some pics of the Vegas Reunion and I have to say "I'M BUMMED OUT" I soooo wish I could have been there but I knew nothing about it. Everyone was there!!!! Lisa you look exactly the same....so does James, Jeff, and Mel. I miss y'all! How is everyone??? I'm living here in Houston trying to get my Masters in Accounting. I'm engaged to an awesome "good looking" man, we've been together for three years. Now that I've discovered this site, I will keep a look out to see when and where the next reunion is and who might be there. I'm soooo sick about missing the one in Vegas, I will be at the next one even if it's in AMSTERDAM!!! :) Chris Blake where were you???

I just received the BratNews and it got me thinking about maybe trying to make the reunion this year -- have not yet been to one. Like many, others never really quite "got" where I came from. It would be nice to check back in a bit. The last time I was in SA was as part of the 1st Cavalry Division in 1990/91 when I met again a friend from Ras Tanura childhood, Tom Doody. I had stayed with Tom and his kind folks the night before I flew off to Vietnam, too. BTW_ best thing that ever happened to me. My wife and I have been married 33 years now so I got some good out of it all. Kind of a strange coincidence with Tom, though -- don't know what will happen if we actually get together again. Anyway, I'm still recovering from a 3rd spinal surgery, but much better now. After retirement from US Army (27 years as CW4, logistics officer), we settled in FL where my wife never, ever wanted to move again. Now, after 7 years here she is again talking about moving -- I guess it just gets in your blood!!! So, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year and whatever else is PC now. It's funny how often my thoughts slip back to RT, even after so many years -- 38. Life moves very quickly!!! For any old friends/classmates wanting to reach me, please use the email here and I will reply with my personal one.

Christina,

Your a blast from the past. I'm the guy who rode horses and got in to lots of trouble all the time.
I'm engaged to a horse trainer and living in Warrenton VA (it's 30 mins west of Fairfax). Some how I ended up being a database admin guy in Fairfax.
I don't have kids yet but I delivered my first colt this year.

I have not kept in touch with anyone like I should have but I certainly remember Rania, Fiona, Caroline, Aspen, Lynn, Casey and you.

You might be an Aramco brat if ....
You check for water coolers at the back of a bus...
When someone yells SECURITY you jump a fence and run..
You have eaten a goats eye ball (gross)...
Hot means that your converse shoes feel gummy on the bottom... any others?

It's the oddest thing. I just ran accross Doyle Rockwell's name on the internet, and it got me feeling all nostalgia-esque. I have develpoed a habit of making great friends, moving, and never having contact with them ever again. However, I do like to catch up every now and then. As such, finding thhis site could be the coolest thing that has happened in a month or two. Good to see how well everyone is doing and that there are friendships still flourishing. Contact me if you like, and if not... take care.

Hello to all friendly city dwellers.I hope all of you are doing well at this year's end. The Japanese restaurant business is treating me well, come in and see me if you are in town(Daiji's Izakaya.) Once again I must reflect on xmas in the kingdom. Drunken santa delivering gifts for the AWG, what a sight, I had to drive a couple of them home on occasion, sorry dad. And the Henderson's, the only family, who after lights were banned, lit there house with pride, Oh the good ol'days, the things we took for granted. Be cool to one another, and party on dudes! Hey everyone.... Wow, I didn't even know this site existed! I guess living in Cairo hasn't helped me keep in touch, really. I hope I do get in touch through this site though... Just to keep you updated on me - I've been living in Cairo since college where I graduated with a degree in economics... I've been married for one year now to a wonderful man named Karim and I'm not a mom just yet! I'm busy working as a broker and I'm also still studying... hope to finish my MBA in a couple more years. Being so close to saudi allows me to go visit often, since my parents are still there.... believe me, I do live in the middle east, but saudi still has it's own aura. It's the only place I can call home - except of course now that I have my own home with my husband, I'm finally beginning to feel like I can call Cairo home... Anyway, it would be great to hear from any of the class of '93... please email me on maha.talab@eg.bartercard.com or post me a message right here.

Been awhile since I wrote on here, so I thought I would give you all an update. I talked to my mother for the first time in a while, and she informed me that I am an aunt. My brother "T" is happily married and has a baby girl. My other brother Suntad is doing well, he is currently living with my mom in Thailand, helping her out since she isn't doing so well.

I am going to be going to Thailand over the Christmas holiday to see everyone - should be interesting since it has been YEARS since my last visit. Paul Anderson, give me your number, I would love to get together while I am there.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Feel free to drop a line if you wanna chat.

We took care of her for five weeks before she passed away. I feel so lucky that we were able to tell her how much she mean't to us before she died. Anyhow, Go Red Sox (since the Cardinals suck for beating the Astros) and I'll chat with y'all later

Hey everyone! Check out the new Dhahran Class of 93 website. Also, the website contains a link to join the class listserve; currently we have 18 members and counting. I got married this past July. Tanya and Natalie Mahdi, Kristine Kelley, Jade Pang, Sonique Visser, Heather Holland, Patricia Chen - thanks for attending! Julie - you were an amazing maid of honor with the funniest speech ever..... After the wedding, we moved from Houston to Seattle. I am currently settling into married life and enjoying the rainy weather...anyone in the area is welcome to drop me a line...

Hello! It is great to read all the messages from all the people I grew up with in Abq. I would love to hear from any of my classmates/friends.

It's been years since I kept in touch with anyone. I moved in 2001 from Austin to DC and have lived here (Northern VA) for the past 3 years. I got married back in July 2002 and that's the last time I was in TX (where I got to see some old Abq. friends).

Hey all:
It's been a while since I've had any contact with my fellow brats, so I thought I'd check in. I've seen a few class of '95-ers, but they're post-1990 brats... not recognizing many names. If you recognize mine, drop me a line! I'm currently in Houston, where I'm working as an engineer. I used to practically live at the Hobby Farm, and I'm still very involved with horses - riding/teaching/training. Later!

It's pretty amazing to see how all the people I grew up with are doing great and are pretty successful. In short, I have been married for 8 years and have 2 kids, Christian (5) and Madison (1). I did have a killer job working for SBC Communications, but got laid off, aint that a bitch. If there are some pics of you that you wished that I had not posted I am sorry. But, I think that everyone looked great. I was actually surprised when I saw that there was not one person that I did not recognize. Everyone looked wonderful. So, for the people who did not make it, here you go and for the people that did, I hope you enjoy. I hope we can do it sometime soon again and MORE will come.
It is definitely worth the time and the effort.

Hey all thought I'd drop a line. First off I'm really bummed I couldn't make it to the Vegas reunion, I'm sure it was completely out of control. Great job to everyone who set it up. I'm living in Australia now after 4 years in San Francisco working as a geological engineer. I've been travlin around for the past few months but have now begun to get set up here. Trying to hook up with James Moss, but we keep missing each other. So great to hear from everyone. Sorry Ive been a bit of an email blackhole lately. Had some great emails from a bunch of you I'll be getting back soon. Guess Im one of the MIAs these days. Speaking of that anyone have contact info for Christine Doyle?

So is there anywhere on the web I can check out pics from the Vegas reunion? I'd love to see what everyone looks like these days. Hope you are all doing great and please drop me aline, I promise Ill get back to you now that Im not living outa my backpack.

see you in the future...

Seriously, Julie, why haven't we gotten drunk together yet? It's a crime, I tells ya, a CRIME.

Who else is in Austin? We need to organize some kind of get together, especially since either Steve Miksis's little impromptu mini-reunion has either fallen through or all those bastards don't want to kick it McKenney-style, but we should get the Austin brats together.

Someone who is not me should organize it as I am a lazy bastard and if I do it it will end up being shots in my dining room while we gossip about all the people we hated in school.

Wow. I had heard about this place, but never stumbled upon it until now. Its cool to learn that so many people keep in touch from Saudi Arabia. It brings all the memories flooding back. In my last years in Saudi Arabia I probably spent most of my time getting into trouble for things I thoroughly deserved to... but hey everyone grows up thank goodness. Anyone who remembers me from Ras Tanura is quite welcome to drop me an e-mail. I'd love to get back in contact with people I used to know, to catch up to current time or to remenice, whichever anyone prefers.
Well I'm in my mid 20s now and I work for a National Bank selling Morgages. Bradford is a Muslim city, so not that different from Saudi Arabia, just it doesn't have any sand. Its kinda boring here though so a message or two wouldn't go amiss. :) :) :)

Well, the baby's asleep, so I thought I'd look at the brats sight. I noticed the next reunion will be in Houston. I also noticed that a lot of the people who attended the past reunions were from previous classes, mostly early 80's and before. I hope to encourage the classes from late 80's to current to attend so that I might see someone I know! I don't get online much, so I hope that someone who knew me will e-mail. On Saturday my older sister, Teressa, and her two children, Ethan and Emily were driving from my house to Target to pick up a couple of things. A seventeen year old girl ran a stop sign going very fast and hit my sister's minivan on the passenger side. The van fell on its side, skidded down the rode before finally rolling upside down. Teressa suffered muscle bruising and glass injuries from the windshield. Ethan, my 2 year old nephew, walked away with only a few scrapes but my 5 year old niece Emily, was life-flighted to D.C. Children's Memorial Hospital, where she under went 5 hours of brain surgery. The doctors actually had to remove the badly bruised part of her brain, located near the very front tip. They tell us that miraculously it is the only part of the brain that we do not use. She now has stitches all over her beautiful little face, and her eyes are black and blue and swollen shut, which only leads to her confusion and frustration when she wakes up.

Thankfully she is waking up. Last night was the first time I've actually seen her coherent. She knew who we all were and even gave us hugs we before we left. I cried harder than I did when I found out she was injured. She is being moved from the ICU to the Neurosurgery floor so they can monitor her progress and begin her rehab. It is going to be a slow and painful process for her. One that she should not have to go through but now has no choice. Hopefully she will be recovered enough to begin kindergarten in the fall but sadly the gymnastics classes that she loves so much will have to be dropped.

As for my family we are as well as can be expected. We are grateful that Emily and everyone else are alive, because when you see the car you wonder how they made it. My neighborhood has been wonderful, with neighbors stopping by to check on us and everyone praying for Emily. Personally, I will tell you that it has definitely been my faith that has helped me threw this horrible experience. If anyone wants to send Emily or Teressa, Richard or Ethan a card you can mail it to my house. They, along with my parents, little sister and niece Schylar will all be here for at least two more weeks. My address is 3504 Connor Place Frederick, MD 21704. Please pray for Emily. Love, Connie

All - Many of you who know me might remember back in Sept. 1991 my Uncle Ernie, Aunt Alice, and 8 year old cousin Emily were violently murdered in Barrington, Rhode Island. The story made national news (due to the weapon being a cross bow) and was picked up by CNN, AP, Reuters, Current Affair, Hard Copy, Inside Edition just to name a few. Two books were written as well; Death of An Angel by Don Davis (St. Martins Press); and Shattered Innocence by Susan Hightower (Pinnacle Books). My Dad and I spent 7 weeks in Providence attending the trial and Christopher Hightower was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. R.I. does not have a death penalty. The details of this case are so horrible no family should ever have to endure such a tragedy. Since the trial, Mr. Hightower was attacked in prison by a fellow inmate and nearly killed. He had to be transferred out of R.I. to another State for his own protection. I wanted to let everyone know that A&E - CITY CONFIDENTIAL produced a one hour TV story on the murders which will air this Saturday, July 3rd at 10 pm. EST.(check your local listings for an exact time to be sure)

Hi everyone! I thought I'd share a couple of life's milestones for those who haven't heard from me in awhile. First, I just graduated law school last month(so now I'm in the grueling process of studying for the bar exam). Second, I'm getting married to my college "sweetheart" next April! If you want more info, just write me and let me know (especially those of you whose email I've lost over the years and can't find anywhere). Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey everyone! I didn't realize people still wrote on this thing. I have found myself thinking more and more about Saudi--oh how I miss it! Just thinking about shawarmas, the golf shack, the parties, the friends. Well anyway, I am in California living in my parents house while they are still in Saudi. I am going to college to become a dental hygienist and I am working, working working (partly as a massage therapist and a waitress). Hey there all fellow Abqaiq Brats. Would love to hear from everyone. Just got in touch with Joann Jarvis yesterday and she filled me in on many of you, but there were still too many names missing. Haven't been on the Brats page in a couple of years and it's good to see some entries from people I know. Saw one from Chris B., Jenny B., Carla H., Mohammed E., & Sammy McK. Seems like everyone is doing well. Does anyone have any contact info for Christy Benton, Marc Hebert, or Mike Rahman? Would really like to get in touch with them. I have been married for 3.5 years and just had my first child, a son named Peyton, 4 months ago. Being a mother is amazingly wonderful. Again, please send me a quick note to let me know how everyone is doing. email: sgriggers@bellsouth.net. BTW, Adam married 2 years ago and his wife is expecting their first the middle of September. The whole family, Mom & Dad, my sister Amy, my brother, Adam, as well as my husband and I live in Greenville, SC. If anyone is in the area, stop by.

Hi to anyone out there who remembers me. I haven't been to this book in a while. I'm glad to see the old style is back. It's much easier to use. Things are busy here for me. I'm a mother of 5, work at home transcribing and am still plugging away in the martial arts though I've changed styles. Does anyone have addresses of some that I've lost? I'm looking for Christy Hankamer, Rhonda Shear, Bonny and Brenda Trousdell, and Michelle Hale. Also, Debbie Wertheim. Hope all is well for everyone.

Thanks Dave, Graham, Gilbert, Casey, Papo,Petey Pete, Kyle,Johny Boy Barry, Mack, and all of the state side boys for making my bachelor party a night to remember, hee hee hee. The wedding was great too, thanks to everyone. If anyone is in Houston after the end of June, my restaurant will be open and I will give a discount to anyone who recites their badge number for me! Been awhile since I have posted on this site, thank you for bringing back the old guestbook, the new one isn't as user friendly. As for me, the Dhahran Class of 1992 reunion is fast approaching, and things are coming together nicely. We have about 15 people already confirmed with the hotel, and there are about 5-10 more people who are going to find other places to stay but are still wanting to come. I can't wait!!! As for an update with me, I am still in school, but I will be done with my degree in April. After that, I plan on heading south to warmer climates.

Hello, my name is Sami and I grew up in Dhahran. I left in 1999. This message if for anyone who remembers me during that year. I lived on the Mubaraz street across from the parks. There was one park with a bathroom. It looked like a solid block. My friends and I used to hang out at those parks. My house wasn't that far from the Dhahran Hills school. If you do remember me, I hope to get in touch with you because I really miss it over there. You see my dad, Adil Al-Asfour, died last year, and now I cant go back since im no longer an aramcon. So, leave me ur name and e-mail address, or something that'll let me get in touch with you. Also, if you have any extra yearbooks from the years 2000-2004, and if you dont want them, can i have them. I really have nothing from aramco. I gotta go P.S. I'm sorry that I didn't say good-bye to you guys.

Hey - does anyone know where I can find myself some Saudi sandals? I've worn every pair I own completely through, and I have got to get some more. The only place that I found online is selling them for a ridiculous $50 a pair, which is insane. Didn't they used to be like 20-30 riyals back in the day? Anyway. It's an emergency. Summer is upon us, and I don't know what I'll do without what my husband calls my "toe-holsters." Seriously. Because I don't hang around with any of you brats anymore (not by choice, mostly), they've become my signature look. Do you want fashion to suffer? No, I did not think that you did.

We just had a fire next to our building in North Park (DH) and the fire dept made it after we, the employees, got it under control... luckily, no one was hurt. Haven't been here in a while, but I thought I'd clear up some apparent confusion. The term "BRAT" is actually an acronym for "Born, Raised And Trained." If I remember correctly, it applied to children of military families who grew up to join the military. It may not be accurate, and it may sound bad, but it in no way implies the attitude of Aramcons. Anyway, just moved to the middle of nowhere. I'm actually 10 miles from where FOX taped "The Simple Life." Hope all is going well for everyone.

Got married two weeks after I had her and a now a year later, going through a divorce. Same guy. CRAZY huh. I'm studying to be a parallegal and eventually a lawyer. I'm all about kicking some ass as to what I have been going through. My life as a working, single mom, (I NEVER THOUGHT I WAS MOTHER MATERIAL) is somewhat crazy, but Hailey keeps me going. Does anyone know where they are now, or how to contact them? I was close to Mrs Keyes and Mrs Navaroli after moving back to Pennsylvania. I'd love to know if there are any students out there from their classes (1980/1 for Keyes, 1981/2 for Navaroli). Unfortunately I don't remember everyone's last names, but here are some full names I remember: Jennifer Eastman, Elizabeth Barr, Sean Healy...I often wonder how many "brats" have come to the USA. It was still good to see that some things hadn't changed though (like a little hair styling place in Khobar with a big neon "Saloon" sign in front!) Mazen, GET REAL...our ARAMCO Brat identity has been more than fifty years in the making...surely you are not so self-important to even imagine that all of us would stop & retool our identities merely for your own edification? We don't take that title to mean anything but a loving reminder as to what we were fondly thought of by our parents...so lighten-up & join our happy collection of Aramco Brats!

I am confused why this organization with all of its good intentions makes use of the term "brat" in its name and allows that it reference a time considered precious. Time, being a continuum, does not by any definition separate the present from the past... and y'all are not facing up to the possibility that you actually can be more responsible about the present with all the connections it has to the past. Brats you may be, but I can't endorse that as a reference to my childhood in Saudi Arabia. To my credit I know where I am today so do me a favor grow up and drop the brats term.
